The Partners

  • Peabody Trust

Peabody is one of London’s oldest and largest housing associations, with more than 20,000 properties providing homes for 50,000 people. We were founded by American banker and philanthropist George Peabody in 1862 to “ameliorate the condition of the poor and needy in this great metropolis”. The nature of poverty and deprivation may have changed over the past 150 years, but our mission is as relevant today as it was then: to make London a city of opportunity for all by ensuring as many people as possible have a good home, a real sense of purpose and a strong feeling of belonging. We are committed to building thriving communities and we run more community programmes than any other housing association in London. We work in partnership with schools, local authorities, employers and community organisations to provide services including help with finding work, activities for young people and IT training. We help people to expand their horizons and feel that more is achievable.
